About

Hello! My name is Anna and I am a local RI artist. I create little guys and go out to photograph them Yes, this does get me a lot of strange looks.

My figures are primarily made out of polymer clay and acrylic paint, but I also use spare cloth, cardboard, paper, and other trinkets to bring each piece to life.

A lot of my designs are very Pokemon inspired. When I was really young, my dad would convince me to go on walks by telling me we were searching for Pokemon. It worked every time because I was just so enamored by the franchise.

Because of this, I ended up collecting a lot of Pokemon cards. I sold a lot of them, but still have the ones I got in my childhood. Some of my favorites were clay art created Yuka Morii, since they felt so different than the other cards I saw.

I did some light photography in middle school when I was trying out every single hobby available, but I did not get back into it until 2021. Two things happened that year: First, New Pokemon Snap released and I realized I was having way too much fun taking photos. And second, I took a vacation to Cape Cod and was frustrated at the blurry picture I took of a seal. I knew right then that I needed a camera, and I never stopped photographing.

I wanted to try to sell art prints at some point, but I knew it would be a challenge given the oversaturation of the hobby. How could I compare to some of the experts out there?

Sometime later, my parents told me about another local artist named David M Bird. He created these little guys called Becorns and photographed them alongside local forest critters. I fell in love and my parents bought me a metal print for Christmas. But as we were talking about it, my dad turned to me and said "You know, you could probably do something like that." And I thought, "Yeah, yeah I could..."

For the past two years I have been creating my catalog, trying my best to post one art piece a week and seeing what worked and what didn't. This is something that I'm still learning, but I still enjoy the process of learning.

What I want to bring with my photos is a sense of joy, discovery, and magic - to bring the excitement of finding something new to others, and the knowledge that even now the world still has a bit of whimsy.
